The MetaServer application is a MacroView application that does not contain any OPC functionality. It is only mentioned here as the OPC MetaBridge implementation uses the MetaServer protocol for communicating to its client applications. The MetaServer program provides remote access to MacroView data for MetaServer clients. The types of MacroView data and functionality it supports include:

The OPC MetaBridge application leverages the MetaServer protocol to provide access to OPC server hosted information. Hence the OPC MetaBridge application provides a front end to OPC data in the same way that the MetaServer application provides a front end to MacroView data. This allows all the client programs that communicate to the MetaServer application to also be able to communicate to the OPC MetaBridgeapplication.
